Following graduation, you’ll be eligible for professional registration with The Society of Sports Therapists which will help boost your professional profile to new clients and employers. **What facilities can I use** You’ll have access to our Human Performance Lab which has been designed to enhance athletes by analysing their techniques to develop the most effective strength and conditioning regime. This facility will help you understand injury prevention and rehabilitation in a way that you won’t be able to get from a textbook – another unique thing about joining BNU! **What will I study?** This course is ideal for you if you’re interested in the broader area of sports medicine. You’ll learn how to diagnose injured athletes and treat them effectively. You’ll also explore the biomechanics of human movement. Physiology and functional anatomy. Modules will range from core scientific principles of exercise to injury assessment, treatment and rehabilitation. Over the three years you’ll spend at BNU, you’ll learn about human anatomy, health and exercise physiology, therapeutic interventions and data analysis. In your final year, you’ll also work closely with your personal tutor to dive more deeply into an area you’re passionate about to deliver your final dissertation project. Most Sports Therapists work as self-employed practitioners, so this course has been designed to combine therapy and business skills to give you the confidence and entrepreneurship you’ll need to start a small business. **How will I be taught and assessed?** By studying our BSc (Hons) Sports Therapy course, you’ll always learn through a combination of theoretical and practical methods. Our expert academic staff will teach you through lectures, seminars, practical/lab sessions and tutorials, and importantly you’ll also participate in work placements and independent study. We also offer all our students the opportunity to visit or be visited by external industry partners so you can hear from the professionals currently working on the ‘front line’ of sports therapy. Each module will have its own assessment criteria, but you’ll largely be working on presentations, vivas, reports and essays, case studies, work-related and practical assessments.
