Does experimenting with sound recordings and music interest you? Audio and Music Production explores the technical and creative aspect of sound. You don’t have to be musically trained. We’re looking for students who have a fascination for sound and a flair for music. If that’s you, then we’ll give you the skills you’ll need for a career in the industry. On this course you’ll learn about both performance and the music business. And of course, you’ll have plenty of opportunities to immerse yourself in the industry with real life briefs. **Why study this subject?** Are you looking for a future in studio and live production, sound design, music performance, music technology retail, or music hardware? The Recorded Music sector includes record labels, music distributors, recorded rights holders, physical manufacturers and recording studios and is estimated to be contribute £568 million to the UK economy. Our Careers and Employability team will also help to find you work placements in and around the area. **What facilities can I use?** You will regularly be given the opportunity to work with a variety of artists using our state-of-the-art facilities. Working with the Film and TV students, you’ll record sound and work on post-production which will give you experience of working with a wide variety of genres to help you perfect your production skills. You’ll record and produce audio in the Sennheiser Sound Lab which has been fully equipped by our partners, Sennheiser, a world leading production supplier. We have other top quality suppliers, including Midas, Focusrite, Novation and AC Lighting, so you can get your hands on the same tools as the best in the business. **What will I study?** Any media production draws on a range of skills. To reflect the real world, you’ll work as a part of a production crew on campus and off on site with our partners. You’ll collaborate with students from other courses, including Film & TV and Performing Arts on projects ranging from the screen to the stage. There’s more to Music Production than performance. It’s also a business. We include business modules to give you an insight into the challenges that freelance technicians face, such as finance and legal guidance. **How will I be taught and assessed?** Our tutors have worked in live studio-based music production, sound design and location. They bring a wealth of experience from film, TV and radio to their teaching. We also have visiting tutors who keep you updated on the latest developments in sound production. As well as this you'll have the opportunity to take part in live-industry briefs. These have seen students work at Glastonbury, Dolby and Pinewood Studios. You’ll also get the chance to work with up and coming music artists. Previous artists have included the Ting Tings, Jake Bugg, and Florence and the Machine. It’s an amazing way to team up with some of the brightest new talent.
