BA(Hons) Economics (with Foundation Year) is a modern applied course that focuses on applying the latest post-crisis economic theory to real and relevant problems.
This degree is accredited by the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA), giving valuable exemptions from professional exams.
You’ll gain the skills to analyse issues including irrational behaviour, how firms operate, economic growth, post-crisis banking, and development and sustainability. You’ll learn about alternative schools of thought that are shaping economics, including new-institutional, happiness, evolutionary and behavioural economics.
Our pluralist, research-led approach is taught in only a handful of UK universities. We’ll show you how to assess problems using multiple disciplines, and explore the pros and cons of each. This will give you a deeper understanding of real-world economic relationships and make you attractive to employers.
With an emphasis on skills development and employability, this course gives you regular access to industry through placements, field trips and guest lectures.
Economics at UWE Bristol focuses on employability and experience, helping you bridge the gap between theory and practice and develop important workplace skills.
Our graduates go on to successful careers in banking, finance, accountancy, non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and government. They work as Financial Analysts, Stockbrokers and Pricing Analysts across private and public sector organisations including Hargreaves Lansdown (stockbroker), the Ministry of Defence (MoD), Lloyds Banking Group, HSBC, and Rolls Royce.
