Product Design with Professional Experience (with Integrated Foundation Year)
University of Brighton
Product Design with Professional Experience (with Integrated Foundation Year)
Course Summary
Our established product design degree has an outstanding track record of producing graduates who go on to fulfilling and innovative careers. An optional year-long placement in the third year provides invaluable experience and often leads to opportunities on graduation.
This route, with integrated foundation year, includes an additional year of study at foundation level, opening up additional opportunities for you in this field if you do not currently hold the portfolio of work or academic qualifications required for entry to the 4-year course. This route may also be the right option for you if you are returning to study.
The extra year of study equips you with the knowledge and skills you need to progress whilst enabling you to build a portfolio. Successful completion of the foundation year means you can progress directly onto Product Design BA(Hons). At this point you can also opt to continue on to our accredited Architecture BA(Hons) degree or our Interior Architecture BA(Hons) degree.
Whether you want to work in the creative or the engineering industries, this degree gives you the theoretical foundation and practical skills required to create original and sustainable consumer products.
During the course you will work through a series of projects, choosing specialist studios to suit your areas of design interest and learning the process of taking a product from concept to completion.

Additional Fee Information
The fees listed here are for full-time courses beginning in the academic year 2022-23.
Please note that the £13,873 international fee is for classroom based courses. For lab based courses a higher fee of £14,892 applies. EU students will be charged international fees unless they have settled status awarded by the UK Government's Settlement Scheme.
Further tuition fees are payable for each subsequent year of study and are subject to an annual increase of no more than 5% or RPI (whichever is the greater). The annual increase for UK/EU students, who are subject to regulated fees, will increase no more than the statutory maximum fee.
The tuition fee you have to pay depends on a number of factors including the kind of course you take, and whether you study full-time or part-time. If you are studying part-time you will normally be charged on a pro rata basis depending on the number of modules you take. If your course includes a sandwich year option you will pay a reduced fee during this year; £1,370 for home students and £2,120 for international students.
All fees should be checked against the information listed on the course page on our website: www.brighton.ac.uk/courses as specific details will be included there. You may have to pay additional costs during your studies. The cost of optional activities is not included in your tuition fee and you will need to meet this cost in addition to your fees. A summary of the costs that you may be expected to pay, and what is included in your fees, can be found on our website.
