Course Summary

The BSc (Hons) in Agricultural Management Top-up aims to provide you with a learning environment which builds on the platform of the University Centre Somerset's Foundation Degree. Alternatively students could have studied a similar Foundation Degree elsewhere. Whether you are focused on farm management or an associated industry; this course aims to supply graduates with the opportunity to develop systematic understanding and detailed knowledge of the key concepts, contexts and technologies shaping the developments in the agrifood sector. Industry links form a critical part of our course with regular visits, guest speakers and workshops from sector leaders. Successful completion of the Degree will provide you with the opportunity to progress to employment or further study in an agriculture/food related subject. This course will prepare you well for employment in the industry in positions such as a farm manager, rural surveyor, unit manager, farm contractor, senior herdsman or working within the management team of associated food industries.

Modules are assessed through a combination of coursework and formal examination. Coursework could include written / practical reports; in-class tests; case studies; essays; oral presentations; posters and a dissertation which allows independent research in a topic of interest, developed with staff on the programme.
