Looking to learn highly-employable skills and start a new career in the creative industries? This course has been designed to provide you with a core understanding of the fundamentals of photography, and prepare you for a career in the contemporary creative industries. A practical, employment-focused and cost-effective alternative to expensive university courses, this vocational course will teach you the skills required to get you into the creative workplace. The programme of study has been developed by professionals who have held senior posts at national creative companies and have also worked for high calibre regional employers in the creative sector. It is taught by an experienced teaching team who are all practicing creatives in their own rights, enabling students to receive the relevant knowledge and expertise needed in today’s fast-paced creative industries. What courses can I do after this? Depending on numbers, there will be an option for progression on to a HND at the college. On completion of the HND you are able to progress to a one-year top up to a BA (Hons) degree at university, and then on to a Masters if you wish, or go directly into employment. What jobs can I get? Commercial Photographer, Fine Art Photographer, Food Photographer, Fashion Photographer, Wildlife Photographer, Stylist, Wedding Photographer, Photographer’s Assistant, Photographic Retoucher, Photography Agency Worker and Freelancer, plus many more.

Course Details - Modules

You will study a wide range of digital and traditional skills and techniques, including camera work, studio lighting, location shooting, styling, retouching and manipulation, delivered by an experienced photographic and design team. You will benefit from ample contact time with specialist staff, small studio sizes and industry-standard equipment. Complementing the practical work is a programme of workshops, lectures, visiting speakers, live projects and work-based experience, encouraging you to grow as an artist who can demonstrate the skills and original, critical thinking that employers need.
