The BA (Hons) Photography aims to develop practical photography skills while embracing the wider skills associated with a lifelong career in the Creative Arts industry.
Photography graduates need to be prepared for a more varied, ever-changing and challenging work environment than ever before. Our aim is for you to develop a broad range of transferable skills including creative thinking and enterprise skills to give you the confidence to use them with the flexibility to create and support a successful career.
As the industry and its supporting technology is ever-changing, we have developed a responsive curriculum by utilising visiting industry professionals as a vital resource and information base that has enabled us to inform and deliver appropriate industry content.
With your broad skills, industry connections and growing self-confidence, you will graduate from this programme as a photography specialist, able to progress to post-graduate study and meaningful employment, or directly to into industry, where you will make a significant impact in academic, creative or other professional sectors.
The industry focus of the programme is maintained by teaching and technical staff who are themselves practitioners and who ensure that the programme of study is both current and relevant. The wide range of specialisms offered by the teaching staff and technicians ensures that you are offered a rich range of options, allowing you to specialise in areas that suit your personal and professional needs as you progress through the programme.
Blackpool School of Arts has many specialist facilities and resources including state-of-the-art photography studios, photography darkroom, 3D studio and print room. You will also have access to a unique creative environment with contemporary studios, think spaces and a stunning public gallery.
