Course Summary

The continued growth and focus on the health and sport sector along with the national drive by Governments, QUANGOs and NHS to increase the numbers of people participating in sport and physical activity at all levels is requiring an increase in highly skilled practitioners. Industry now demands coaches and sport development managers to facilitate the development, planning, implementation and delivery of sport within both educational, community and elite arenas. The programme will allow graduates to have more desirable skill sets that are essential for the changing nature of physical activity, sport and physical education. The BSc (Hons) Sports, Coaching and Development programme is aimed at candidates wanting to pursue a career within the sports coaching, physical education or sports development fields. The teaching and learning through theory and practical based sessions will emphasise the application of theory to practice. The purpose of this programme will be to equip students with the underpinning knowledge and skills to coach within multi-skill, multi-sport, educational, sport-specific or sport development environments.
