Course Summary

This programme provides an in-depth specialist business understanding of the equine industry with a thorough study of business management and operations procedures. An underpinning study of the principles and practice of horse management provides complete industry relevance, providing essential in depth understanding of equine anatomy, husbandry and exercise physiology with optional modules in nutrition, behaviour and equitation. The core underpinning of business management is complimented with integrated transferable and employability skills to apply in a range of industry sectors, whilst elective modules allow students to tailor applied modules to support their career aspirations. The high level of business acumen studied has high relevance to a range of opportunities in equestrian and horse racing industries, but can readily be applied to broader rural and non-rural enterprises. Graduates will be able to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of organisations, the business environment, operations and management practices, gaining valuable application opportunities within our excellent equine commercial enterprises. The programme prepares students with creativity and confidence to market products and services, as well as undertaking applied activity within the management of equestrian events alongside our experienced commercial equine team. The external placement provides opportunity to gain valuable experience within industry to further develop essential graduate attributes and appreciation of business structures and organisation.
