Course Summary

Our Art Practice HND is a two-year, full-time course aimed at students wanting to continue their education through applied learning. Higher Nationals provide a wide-ranging study of Art Practice and are designed for students who wish to pursue or advance their career in this sector. Learners discover new ways of manipulating materials, responding to live and hypothetical briefs. Past learners have gone on to top up their HND to a BA (Hons) degree and even masters. Others have gone on to be teachers, designers, art therapists and photographers etc. The course offers opportunities to get experience with the likes of Sunderland glass centre and local art organisations. Learners also are given the opportunity to partake in a trip to Barcelona or London to observe gallery shows, workshops, culture, and architecture to inspire their own projects and outcomes. Overall learners are assisted to express themselves, develop new skills and knowledge to prepare them for a career within the arts.
