Course Summary

Recent studies have found that almost two-thirds of businesses have a cybersecurity skills gap, while more than half feel they are at risk of attack because of this lack of skills. Forbes magazine suggests that the cybersecurity job market will continue to grow by more than a third each year, into the early 2020’s. So this is definitely the time to start developing your career in this rapidly expanding industry. Cybersecurity is a much used term, but what does it actually mean? In short it encompasses the technologies, processes and controls designed to protect systems, networks and data from cyber-attacks and unauthorised exploitation. Good cybersecurity involves not only managing the technologies, but the people and the business processes involved with today’s increasingly on-line world of business and commerce. The cybersecurity pathway of the Foundation Degree in Digital Technologies will provide you with the skills and knowledge to build a successful career in this exciting and rapidly changing field. The course will cover fundamentals of computer hardware, networking and software systems to the organisational and legal aspects of managing information security, with practical, hands-on experience via our custom designed Security Operations Centre (SOC). You will also hear from industry experts and have the opportunity to get involved with the British Computer Society to develop your professional network. Course themes include: •Protecting systems networks •Analysing data •Managing technologies •Computer hardware and software systems This course is 'Subject to Approval' and has not yet completed the College's approvals process. Whilst we are confident that the course will be approved, it may be subject to minor changes.
