Course Summary
The Higher National Certificate in Sport (Community Sport & Physical Activity), Coaching and Physical Education pathway will allow students to achieve a qualification at an equivalent level to the first year of a degree whilst undertaking a long term placement within a school or coaching setting. The programme offers the opportunity to help build the experience and work related practice students require to begin a journey into an exciting career as a coach or teacher. You will be taught by an experienced teaching team whose expertise and knowledge are closely matched to the content of the modules on the course. The team includes lecturers and professional practitioners with industry experience with some qualified up to masters degree level.
Upon completion of the HNC you can leave with this standalone qualification, or apply to 'top-up' your course to a HND with a further year of study.
For those who wish to study the full HND over two years, there is also the option to undertake a Higher National Diploma (HND) - this is equivalent to two years of a degree course.

**Work Experience and Placement**
Previous students have completed work experience with local primary and secondary schools, sports development organisation, Somerset FA and professional football clubs. Work experience is a essential component of the course and students are advised to consider obtaining work placements prior to commencement of study.
**After the course**
On successful completion of the course you will gain a Pearson Higher National Certificate in Sport (Community Sport & Physical Activity). Graduates have gone to university to complete their top-up degree, completed master's degrees, PGCE's, as well as securing jobs in coaching and teaching.

A GCE Advanced Level profile that demonstrates strong performance in a relevant subject or adequate performance in more than one GCE subject. This profile is likely to be supported by GCSE grades at A* to C (or equivalent)
