From 2020, you will require a degree to join the Police. This course offers those interested in pursuing a career as a Police Officer, or as an Officer with the wider Public Services sector, the opportunity to study a diverse course that will start you on your journey towards meeting the Police entry requirement. The course is designed to provide you with the knowledge and understanding that underpins policing, in addition to preparing for further study, training or employment. Students will develop as professional, self-reflecting individuals able to meet the demands of employers in the policing sector and adapt to a constantly changing world.
The course is taught by well qualified and experienced lectures who are dedicated to ensuring student success through effective curriculum delivery and high-quality pastoral support. The team includes staff with relevant sector expertise.
If you are looking at studying Policing at university level for the first time, you would need to look at studying another qualification first, as this qualification is designed for those who already hold a Level 4 qualification - typically, although not exclusively, a HNC in Policing. At Yeovil College University Centre, we offer the chance to study the full HND Policing course, starting at Level 4. For students who would prefer to study their qualification in two 'chunks', we offer the HNC Policing course, which can be completed first, before topping-up using the HND Policing top up programme.
**After the Course**
Upon successful completion of the Level 5 HND, top up, students will be eligible to apply to complete a top-up degree at Level 6. Completing a Level 6 top-up would open up the undergraduate degree holder route into the police force.
