Course Summary

The BA (Hons) in Acting and Theatre offers you the opportunity to learn about a wide range of contemporary theatre and performance in a variety of regional, national and international contexts. You will undertake training in vocal and physical skills and develop further skills that will make you a creative actor and collaborator, including ensemble skills, devising and creating work for a variety of settings, playwriting, and understanding how theatre can be used as a tool for change. You will learn by ‘doing’: the course offers practical training alongside the opportunity to apply theory to practice. Such opportunities happen in a range of contexts including: working in small-scale professional theatre settings, applied theatre (for example, in education or wellbeing settings). Its interdisciplinary focus allows you to acquire further skills and knowledge involved in the creation of performance and theatre, which include use of technology for design and self-promotion purposes. You will receive support from specialist lecturing staff and visiting professionals who will guide you through your training. The course offers lots of opportunities to engage with current, employment-related professional practice, enabling you to enhance your career potential.
