This course gives you the opportunity to develop your knowledge, understanding, technical skills and confidence to operate successfully in an international and globalised work environment. The study of mathematics is fascinating and challenging. It develops a set of skills that are in high demand across a range of sectors, and offers a variety of exciting professional careers in accountancy, finance, banking, investment, business and IT. In addition, due to its combination with management, the programme also offers careers in more traditional management areas such as: strategic planning, project management, business development, product development, finance, human resources and marketing. In your first academic year you will be introduced to a wide variety of mathematical and statistical theories. Additionally, it will provide the student with a solid foundation in management. Your second academic year will focus on mathematical and statistical modelling. By implementing cutting edge computer software, you will be able to explore the beauty and power of mathematics in action. On the management side you will be able to study a range of modules in operational management. You will engage in critical analysis and interpretation of data, and critical appraisal of international organisations and their operations. Having been exposed to the gamut of mathematics, statistics and management courses during the first two academic years, the third academic year is focused on your career aspirations. Your final year if focused on developing your specific interests in mathematics and management. You will also undertake a final year project on a topic that interests you.

Standard Qualification Requirements

An A Level A*-C pass in Mathematics is required. A GCSE A*-C or 9-4 pass in English Language is required.

We welcome applications from students who are completing an Access to Higher Education Diploma. We normally look for applicants to have studied a course that is in a similar subject and offers are usually made in line with our published tariff point range.

Applicants are required to hold a minimum of 2 x A-level or equivalent qualifications (e.g. 2 x BTEC National Subsidiary Diplomas) and we accept all A-level subjects, including Critical Thinking, General Studies and own-language A-levels. We welcome applicants who have completed the Extended Project (EP/EPQ) and points obtained from this qualification will be included in any offer. In addition, we accept a maximum of 32 points from level 3 qualifications below A2 that are included in the tariff (e.g. AS-levels not studied at A-level, music or dance qualifications). If you are a mature student, your application will be considered on its individual merits and work or other professional experience may be taken into consideration in lieu of other published requirements.
