Course Summary
Delivered at our Trowbridge campus, the two year Higher National Certificate / Diploma (HNC / HND) in Social and Community Work (Integrated Health and Social Care) is aimed at adult students who wish to progress into or progress within careers in health and social care.
Students from this course have progressed onto further study in nursing or job roles in midwifery, paramedic sciences, physiotherapy, substance misuse support, education and social work.
You are taught by well qualified tutors who have sector specific experience and knowledge and you also complete assessed placement hours in each academic year for the HND.
Course Details - Modules
HNC Social and Community Work
During each year, students complete seven modules. These modules cover topics such as:
- Law, Policy and Ethical Practice in Health and Social Care
- Demonstrating Professional Principles and Values in Health and Social Care
- Mental Health and Wellbeing: A Whole Person Approach
- Fundamentals of Evidence Based Practice
Alongside your taught modules, students complete 225 hours working in placement or in a suitable work setting.
HND Social and Community Work
In the second year, students complete a further seven modules. These modules cover topics such as:
- Contemporary Approaches to Disability
- Building Relationships with Individuals in Marginalised Communities
- Safeguarding Children, Young People and Vulnerable Adults
- Developing Effective Helping Relationships
Alongside the taught modules, students complete a further 150 hours in placement or in a suitable work setting.
