This course provides studies in fundamental engineering principles alongside work-based learning and offers students the chance to specialise in either Manufacturing Engineering, Electrical and Electronic Engineering or Operations Engineering.
Regardless of the pathway, though, you will benefit from the UCW approach of combining academic study in areas including project design and management, mathematics and engineering science with practical learning through site visits and field trips.
There are three pathways on this course:
- Electrical and Electronic Engineering
- Manufacturing Engineering
- Operations Engineering
Each pathway contains mandatory modules. Students need to complete 120 credits to achieve the Level 4 HNC.
All pathways:
- Engineering Design (15 credits)
- Engineering Mathematics (15 credits)
- Engineering Science (15 credits)
- Managing a Professional Engineering Project (15 credits)
-
Electrical and Electronic Engineering pathway:
- Electrical and Electronic Principles (15 credits)
- Instrumentation and Control (15 credits)
- Mechatronics (15 credits)
- Systems and Fault Finding (15 credits)
Manufacturing Engineering pathway:
- Computer-aided Design and Manufacture (CAD/CAM) (15 credits)
- Engineering Management (15 credits)
- Production Engineering for Manufacture (15 credits)
- Quality and Process Improvement (15 credits)
Operations Engineering pathway:
- Electrical Systems and Fault Finding (15 credits)
