Course Summary

Subject to validation, we will be offering a three-year BSc Pre-join Degree in Professional Policing. Our course provides students with the theoretical foundations of policing, alongside the practical elements associated with the role of being a Police Constable. The curriculum is aligned to the College of Policing’s national curriculum to develop students’ professional practice, including effective communication skills, problem solving, leadership and enhanced emotional intelligence. At the heart of this degree will be work experience opportunities, and embedded employability skills. In their design and delivery, modules aim to support applications for graduate entry into the fast-paced and ever-changing professional landscape of Law Enforcement, Policing and associated civilian roles. Note: Completion of this degree does not guarantee acceptance into the Police Service.

Summative assessment methods include examinations, coursework, presentation, and practical examples of work-based activity. All modules provide opportunities for formative assessment and these tasks are geared towards the practical and theoretical aspects of the module topics.
