Course Summary

This degree gives you the skills, knowledge and experience to build a career as a primary school teacher and offers the flexibility of combining your education studies with a specialism. A range of qualifications may be possible, including: BA (Hons) Education; BA (Hons) Education with Health and Wellbeing; BA (Hons) Education with Literacy; BA (Hons) Education with Languages; BA (Hons) Education with Mathematics; and BA (Hons) Education with Science. Valuable opportunities for school placement are embedded in each year of the degree, providing hands-on experience to complement your academic studies. You would spend 30 weeks of the programme on placement. You would also have the opportunity to undertake a placement in an Additional Support Needs school. You can undertake optional short and medium term placements in various countries; currently France, Spain, Norway and Israel. New graduates are guaranteed a one-year induction post that enables you to complete your probation and achieve the standard required for full registration with the General Teaching Council for Scotland. UWS graduates teach throughout Scotland and the UK, in Canada, New Zealand and in other Commonwealth and EU countries.
