Course Summary

The BSc Adult Nursing at UWS will equip you with the skills to practice as an adult nurse within a variety of healthcare settings. This degree will prepare you with the knowledge and skills to practice within hospitals, communities and specialist areas and equip you to work in a multi-disciplinary team. The programme offers a combination of blended learning and varied teaching techniques, including state-of-the-art virtual learning and simulated clinical environments, supported by highly experienced and qualified staff. 50% of your programme is theory based and 50% practice based. Career prospects Graduates are eligible to register with the Nursing and Midwifery Council as a Registered Nurse in Adult Nursing. Job opportunities are excellent with attractive starting salaries. Careers include specialist nurse, hospital-based, community or school nurse or health visitor. Depending on your field, you can opt to work as a Registered Nurse within a hospital or community setting in the UK, other EU countries and in Canada and Australasia. Placement/Work-based learning. Practice experience is available throughout NHS Ayrshire and Arran; Greater Glasgow and Clyde; Lanarkshire; Dumfries and Galloway; and Highland (Argyll). Experience may be gained in the private and public sectors, including acute inpatient hospitals. Study abroad During Year 3 you may study abroad while gaining credit towards your degree at one of our 80 educational partner organisations.
