The introduction of our automotive programmes began in the mid-seventies which further developed into the induction of the first Motorsport Engineering course, launched in 1998. The first of its kind in the world, since then we have developed our courses so that you experience a number of applied and academic subjects with contemporary motorsport and automotive relevance, advised by our industry contacts, many of whom are graduates of the programme.
Course Details - Modules
The course is a mixture of practical and analytical modules, all of them dovetailing the engineering from basic principles theme. Maths and Science are core and are reinforced in almost every module, this combined with a good grounding in design, powertrain, chassis, management, suspension, diagnostic and practical abilities means that after the first year students can embark on a group design project employing all the skills learnt in the first year. On successful completion of the HND there is the option of a one year top up to a BSc open to you, where third year modules build on these skills, enhancing your ability to work in a team and specialise in an area of your choice through completion of a major dissertation.
Course Details – Assessment Method
Assessment is spread across the academic year and is a mixture of practical tests & presentations, classroom phase tests and assignment work, thus we hope to appeal to each students best way of learning while improving their weaker areas.
