This programme will offer a unique learning experience suitable for a broad range of students, including those wanting to enter a mental health care field with no previous experience and those already working within such a field who wish to further develop their understanding and skills within this area for their own continuing professional development. Within a supportive environment that encourages the development of academic and professional skills, students can choose to enrol on the full BSc degree pathway or may wish to enrol on the level four Certificate of Higher Education before considering moving to the full degree.
Course Details - Modules
Students must complete 120 credits in each academic year, made up of a number of distinct 20 credit modules, in order to achieve the 360 credits needed for an honours degree award. Module coverage will explore: Mental Health in Children and Young People, Professional Skills in Mental Health, Stress, Coping & Resilience, Legal, Ethical and Professional Issues in Mental Health, Addictions, Substance Abuse and Psychological Dependencies, and Contemporary Issues in Mental Health.
Course Details – Assessment Method
The assessment strategy for each module has been designed to enable students to demonstrate achievement through a variety of traditional and innovative assessment methods, culminating in a work-based learning placement and an Independent Research Project in the final year of study.
