Mechanical Engineering is intended to provide a thorough grounding in mechanical engineering science and its application in design and the solution of a range of engineering problems. In addition, students will develop knowledge in a suitable range of manufacturing processes and materials. The programme will also consider environmental aspects of design and technology and will enable students to gain a range of skills, relevant to a broad range of employment opportunities.

Year One: Engineering Science 1, Engineering Science 2, Mathematics, Engineering Design, Materials and Introduction to Manufacturing Technology, Engineering Applications and Study Skills. Year Two: Group Project, Thermofluid Mechanics 1, Management and sustainability, CAE and Stress Analysis, Manufacturing Design and technology, Dynamics, Extreme Sports Engineering. Year 3: Major Project, Advanced Stress Analysis and FEA, Advanced Computational Methods, Environmental and Quality Engineering, Material Failure and NDT.
Course Details – Assessment Method
Students on this type of programme come with a natural interest in their specialism and the teaching team aims to tap into this interest so students enjoy learning and appreciate the benefits which an engineering degree can add to reinforce their areas of interest. The assessments for the programme will be a mix of coursework and formal examination. Modules such as group project and Major project will also have presentations where you would be given the opportunity to showcase your work.
