Health and Social Care is changing in Wales: Health and Social Care services are merging. There has never been a better time to become skilled in the sector. The BSc Health and Social Care is a three year programme structured to enable flexibility in your career. It is also an excellent starting point for those unsure of their employment goals within the sector. We work closely with three health boards and a wide range of local and national organisations to build upon our excellent reputation in preparing you for employment. We also offer a high level of support to help you develop the professional, practical and academic skills needed to succeed.

Course Details - Modules

Year 1 provides an introduction to the subjects that form a sound foundation for year 2 and beyond. The concept of health is introduced, with an holistic perspective commenced via subjects such as sociology and psychology. To emphasise the vocational nature of the programme subjects such as Ethics and Law as well as Leadership in Organisation are developed. Also developed in the first year are vital employability skills found within the applied personal and professional development module.In Year 2, building upon year 1 foundation subjects, students continue to focus on holism with the addition of Physiology and Nutrition with the opportunity to choose options. The compulsory module of Research prepares the student for the dissertation and research project in year 3. Year 3 develops the themes of strategy, leadership and management. Students will also study either a dissertation or a health focused research project.

Course Details – Assessment Method

Assessments include; essays, exams, reports, presentations, reflective blogs and professional portfolios. You will be asked to utilise information technology communication and organisational skills for your assignments.
