This pathway of the BA (Hons) Education Studies programme will allow you to study a range of key issues relevant to educational theory and practice within modern British society with a particular emphasis on Additional Learning Needs and inclusive practice. This course is designed for those who wish to work within education and to work in professions that make a difference to the lives of others of all ages and abilities. There are opportunities for individual research to pursue personal interests and practical placements within a variety of settings. There are also opportunities to study abroad for a semester. By choosing this pathway firstly you will be provided with a sound understanding of the key principles of Education Studies as a discipline. You will then be engaging in detailed study that will allow you to consider specifically how learning can be supported and developed within contemporary primary and secondary schools as well as other educational contexts. An emphasis on contemporary educational issues across a range of contexts and the development of students as effective educational researchers and practitioners is central to the ethos of this course. This programme supports progression towards a variety of careers such as teaching, research, educational administration and management, local government, as well as a range of opportunities within the public and private sector.
