Course Summary

Our Chemical Engineering (International Study) MEng degree provides an opportunity to study at an international university in your third year. This is a fantastic opportunity for you to travel the world and build a professional and social network and a great talking point in job interviews. Birmingham has one of the largest concentrations of chemical engineering excellence in the UK and we consistently rank among the country’s top five chemical engineering schools for research. This means our courses provide first-class opportunities to learn core technical and transferable skills from the world’s best academics in their field, as well as through industrial collaborations with leading multinational companies. Year three will see you head overseas to study at a prestigious university in Europe – possibly Madrid, Rome, Berlin or Nancy – or further afield such as Australia (Brisbane or Melbourne), Canada (Montreal), Singapore or at one of the Universitas 21 group institutions. Project work – highly valued by employers – is a thread that runs throughout our degree programmes in order to create well-rounded chemical engineers. Problems are posed in a ‘real-world’ environment where decisions need to be made when data and information are scarce. As a Chemical Engineering (International Study) MEng student, your final-year research project will also give you the opportunity to take part in the School’s own world-leading research work, giving you an insight into how the subject is developing at the cutting edge.
