One of the key areas in most organisations at the moment is the use of digital business concepts and technology: this degree allows you to explore this area alongside more general business and management concepts. During the course, you will gain a broad range of business knowledge and skills which will enable you to pursue a career in the private or public sectors. You will also have the appropriate skills and the confidence to develop your own business. In Year 1 you are introduced to the functions of business organisations, the broader business environment, and key management skills and competence including information gathering and analysis, accounting, economics, marketing and organisational behaviour. This means you have the ability to change courses within the Business Management BA Hons portfolio at the end of the first year. In Year 2 you will be investigating and learning how businesses operate, looking at how people are managed, how you manage business operations and how managers make key decisions. You will also start to develop your greater understanding of how digital business is one of the most important aspects of modern organisations. The Digital Business modules will help you gain a clear understanding of how you can solve real business problems as well as making business opportunities with digital business concepts. Year 3 will enable you to apply critical and reflective approaches to exploring the challenges facing organisations at a strategic level. You will also develop your specialist area further, looking at how digital business can be used as a vehicle or a driver for change within any organisation. During this year you will complete a piece of independent research in your specialist subject area within the current themes in digital business.
