BA (Hons) Fashion Design Technology: Womenswear will give you the skills needed to succeed as a womenswear fashion designer. This course prepares students for a career in the highly competitive womenswear sector ensuring that graduates have a combination of creative, technical, intellectual and communication skills.

BA (Hons) Fashion Design Technology: Womenswear will develop the core skills of researching, designing, pattern cutting and realisation of womenswear. You will also develop problem solving to achieve the finished product. Students on this course have a strong work ethic, are energetic, focussed, highly motivated, and are drawn from diverse cultural and socio-economic backgrounds.
BA (Hons) Fashion Design Technology: Womenswear will help to build an appreciation of fashion and its place in society. Students will acquire visual and verbal skills which are needed to be a successful designer.
The course takes advantage of its global positioning in one of the fashion capitals of the world, and you will have the opportunity to interact with the city’s thriving fashion, art, music and club cultures. Industry projects will help to consider different market levels, from high street to designer.
The short work placement will enable you to experience the reality of working within a particular company. You can also make useful contacts for your future career. This involvement with industry and society is essential to a designer. Students on this course will also have the opportunity to enter national and international design competitions.
You will be encouraged to develop your individual identity through your work. You will combine your design direction, your excellent craft skills and your knowledge of technological developments. You will understand every aspect of a garment through both the creative detail and the technical skills used in production. By the end of this course you will be equipped with the knowledge to respond creatively to a design brief within the womenswear market.

This course is based at Curtain Road in Shoreditch. The Shoreditch area was at the heart of London’s clothing industry in the 17th-century and Curtain Road is home to many of LCF’s design, textiles and fashion courses. Nearby you will find Spitalfields and BOXPARK markets offering a wide range of crafts, fashion and food traders.
