**About this Course:**
This Foundation Degree is a vocational programme for those who are involved in learning support as a teaching assistant, classroom assistant, learning mentor, or as a volunteer in a learning support setting. The programme is designed to allow completion within three years of part-time learning, and all modules are closely related to the work of learning support workers.
The teaching team offer a high level of support and guidance to learners with one-to-one support available when needed and studying with us allows you to continue working in your local placement.
As the course is validated by the University of Hull, all processes, from admissions through to assessment, are regularly reviewed to ensure that there is compliance with university academic regulations, equivalence in academic standards, appropriate staffing and resources are maintained, and that there is a provision of a good quality Higher Education experience for all students on the programme.

**Progression:**
- Progress from the Foundation Degree in Learning Support to Qualified Teacher Stauts (QTS) at primary level, or on to the BA (Hons) Education and Professional Development top-up programme, available at University Centre Rotherham (UCR).
**Entry Requirements:**
We do not ask for specific qualifications but are looking instead for motivation, experience in learning support and evidence that you will be able to succeed in study at degree level.
- You should be in paid or voluntary learning support position at a recognised training or education establishment
- Basic IT skills
- Confident with the ability to write extended essays and reports.
- Although we do no require Maths, English Language or Science GCSEs for this course you may need such qualifications if you wish to move into teaching after this programme.

Standard Qualification Requirements
Prospective students must usually fulfil the University of Hull’s matriculation requirements, but we are keen to take into account your life experiences as well as professional qualifications and awards you may have. We therefore do not ask for specific qualifications but are looking instead for motivation, experience in learning support and evidence that you will be able to succeed in study at degree level. We welcome applications from all age groups.
Use the application form to give details of your work experience in learning support (paid or voluntary), your reflection on what you have learnt and any qualifications you have taken, and each application will be considered on its own merit. You need to feel confident that you can meet the demands of an undergraduate programme including the ability to write extended essays and reports. If you have any doubts, you can arrange for an advisory interview with the Curriculum Leader prior to applications. You must include a letter of support from your setting with your application form.
Note: Although we do not require maths, English language or science GCSEs for acceptance onto the Foundation Degree, it is important to remember that you may need such qualifications if you wish to move into teaching after this programme. It is also advisable to develop some level of IT skills prior to starting the programme to support the online learning aspect of the course.
