One of the fastest growing career areas in the country is that related to health, fitness, and exercise physiology in both the public and private sectors. Business and industry are becoming aware of the increased efficiency of a workforce where the wellness level is high and medical costs and absenteeism are reduced. The wellness consciousness of the general population is at an all-time high; health/fitness services and technologies permeate our society through business and industry, hospitals and rehabilitation centres, fitness assessment clinics, fitness clubs/gyms, and wellness programmes projected through public and private recreation, along with the efforts of schools to serve the wellness needs of their communities. Unique to Ulster University, BSc Hons Health Physiology will provide you with sophisticated diagnostic skills to interpret wellbeing through telemedical formats. Therefore, this course will provide practitioners of the future who are perfectly placed to influence attitudes and promote the health and wellness agenda. This programme also provides a route into year two BSc Hons Healthcare Science (Cardiac Physiology / Sleep & Respiratory Physiology) . On successful completion of year 1 Health Physiology, students will be given the option to apply to transfer to year 2 BSc Hons Healthcare Science. Transfer may only occur if the student is in good academic standing, and is subject to confirmation of work-based training places. BSc Hons Health Physiology and BSc Hons Healthcare Science share common first years.

Standard Qualification Requirements

To include a grade B from one of the following: Maths, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Double Award Applied Science, Double Award Health & Social Care or CCEA GCE Single Award Life & Health Sciences (first taught September 2016). Applicants can satisfy the requirement for the A level grade C (or equivalent) by substituting a combination of alternative qualifications recognised by the University.

Overall Access profile pass with an overall mark of 63%, including two modules at level 3 from the following: mathematics, physics, biology or chemistry. NICATS maths (25 credits) or maths 1 & 2 or GCSE grade C Maths.

In a relevant science RQF based BTEC. For applicants taking the Pearson QCF level 3 BTEC Extended Diploma (first teaching 2010), the requirement will be DDD.

112 UCAS tariff points to include a minimum of five subjects (four of which must be Higher level). Higher Level subjects must include Maths, English and least two H3s from Physics, Chemistry or Biology.
