Studying the BA (Hons) in Musical theatre will enable students to gain the following knowledge and understanding:
1. Critically discuss issues associated with personal and professional development and analyse current industry practices to apply requisite skills in the collation of self-marketing materials and the development of a professional profile
2. Demonstrate a thorough knowledge and understanding of complex and conflicting theories, forms, practises concepts and principles relevant to a specific subject area.
3. Demonstrate a systematic understanding of key aspects of the principles of performance, including acquisition of coherent and detailed knowledge, some of which is, or is informed by, the most currently defined aspects of a discipline.
4. Engage creatively & critically with the creation and/or production of performance through a sensitive understanding of any necessary performance vocabularies, techniques, structures & working methods associated with musical theatre.
5. Utilise a wide breadth of understanding that enables them to devise and sustain arguments and solve problems using ideas and techniques, some of which are at the forefront of musical theatre practice.
6. Apply consistent developed methods and techniques that they have learned to review, consolidate, extend upon, and to initiate and carry out musical theatre performances to a professional level.
7. Critically evaluate arguments, assumptions, abstract concepts and texts, through the rehearsal process, and be able to refine them in the performance through the disciplines associated with musical theatre.
