Course Summary

FdA Computer Games Design and Production will help you to develop an understanding of this part of media industries as well as gaining a contextual understanding of the role of computer games in contemporary culture. You will study a range of design skills of digital 2D and 3D creation for computer games applications, exploring specific digital techniques like simple coding and the use of animation. You will then develop a critical evaluation of techniques and creative design practice, exploring the concept of multi-platform production. You will experience a mixture of lectures, presentation and seminars as well as allocated time in our dedicated Higher Education Games Development Lab. The aim of this programme is to create the potential for self-employment as well as working for games design companies. This course will prepare you for a career in the innovative and fast paced world of digital games design and development, equipping you with the tools to become an indie game developer as well as the ability to merge into a larger games studio. Throughout the course you will collaborate on group projects as well as learning and engaging with the current developments in digital culture.
