Course Summary

FdA Childhood Education is an exciting opportunity for you to study education provided for children aged 0-11. Vocational practice is central, allowing you to make real links between theory and practice, whilst ensuring that there is appropriate academic rigour to enable you to progress on to the final year of a Bachelor degree course. Progression routes at Truro and Penwith College include; BA (Hons) Education and Training, BA (Hons) Human Behavioural Studies and BSc (Hons) Applied Social Science. You will be introduced to a wide range of topics associated with childhood education including some of the more complex issues surrounding children and education today, a number of which relate to the National Curriculum and The Early Years Foundation Stage. This programme has been designed to equip you with the skills and knowledge required to work within your chosen specialism area. It is also a platform from which you can undertake additional academic and in some instances professional vocational qualifications. The course has also developed strong links with local primary schools meaning that some of our students have successfully found relevant and stimulating vocational practice placements during and after the course. Graduates are suitably prepared to pursue careers in primary school teaching, childcare management and nursery supervision.
