HNC Art Practice is an excellent opportunity for you to achieve a nationally recognised Level 4 vocationally specific qualification. The course is an intensive, hands-on programme that allows you to develop your own conceptual and visually dynamic creative identity. It enables students to engage in a broad skill base in 2D and 3D media such as; painting, drawing, sculpture, printmaking, ceramics, kiln formed glass and creative image making, which is underpinned by cultural context.
Housed in the historic setting of Penzance School of Art or Truro College's Tregye Campus, the HNC Art Practice at Penwith College is a course which encourages the exploration and development of skills through direct practical engagement with materials and processes such as; contemporary drawing, sculpture, printmaking and ceramics, all of which are underpinned by cultural and contextual studies. As a student on this course you will be challenged to investigate a diverse range of media, develop your own innovative visual language and realise your creative potential both as an individual and as a collaborator. Curatorial and professional practice will be integrated throughout the course in conjunction with regional and international practising artists, designers, curators and galleries. The programme encourages, supports and emphasises the importance of professional practice and gives the opportunity for producing an appropriate portfolio that demonstrates your growing professional expertise.
Students can progress from the HNC to year 2 of the HND Art & Design at Truro and Penwith College.
