Course Summary

Designed to support performance and composition, this programme will enable you to build on your musical interests, skills and experience; discover more about music; and explore possibilities for your personal, artistic and professional development. Normally taken before undergraduate study, the programme is designed for aspiring musicians who wish to develop their musical skills and techniques, as well as to significantly improve their English language. On completion of the programme, students will have enhanced their performance/composition skills in their Principal Study discipline, and be able to communicate in English at a level appropriate to entry to conservatoire BMus or university music study within the UK. In addition to your Principal Study lessons and departmental classes, you will improve your performance skills through engagement with Alexander Technique, Dalcroze and weekly performance workshops; and gain confidence in audition techniques.
