**Course overview**: This course includes an integrated foundation year, ideal if you don’t have the appropriate subjects and/or grades to go straight into year one. **Our BSc (Hons) Professional Policing is a professional academic knowledge-based degree, based on the National Policing Curriculum for the police constable role, and taught under licence awarded by the College of Policing**. It will provide you with a comprehensive education, based upon the professional responsibility of the police service and all who work within it, to serve and protect the public in the most effective ways possible. In particular it will develop the five policing practice themes of response policing. policing communities, policing the roads, information and intelligence, and conducting investigations. Taught by staff with professional policing experience or relevant academic expertise, you will be able to understand how to engage in lawful, safe and effective front-line policing, and be able to research, develop, implement and review evidence-based initiatives to improve policing performance. At a broader level, you will gain the knowledge and understanding of other roles within the policing family to make an application to work as a member of police staff across the UK or within the military police. This degree will equip you with the necessary knowledge, understanding and skills to prepare you as a competitive applicant for the police service. **After the course**: Successful completion of the BSc (Hons) Degree in Professional Policing cannot guarantee your recruitment to the police service. As each force has its own requirements you are advised to refer to the policecouldyou site and College of Policing site which outline the official police recruitment processes you would be required to undertake at the time of your application, eg the Police SEARCH® or Day One Recruit Assessment Centre. You will also be required to meet common police eligibility requirements.

The programme is assessed through a range of formative and summative methods in oral, written and alternative formats. These comprise traditional assessment methods including essays, reports, reflections, multiple choice questions, practical tasks, presentations, negotiated research and conference dissemination of findings.
