**Optional year in industry**: The year in industry option will help you gain valuable work experience which will help you enhance your graduate employability prospects. During your placement you develop transferable skills such as communication, negotiation, teamwork, leadership, organisation, problem-solving, being able to work under pressure, self-reliance and commercial awareness. At the end of your work placement you return to complete your degree and prepare to enter employment with improved confidence. Advice is also available on job hunting and networking. **Course details**: By joining Teesside University’s integrated masters degree in chemical engineering you will be on a path to full registration as a chartered engineer with one of the highest earning potentials amongst the engineering professions. Chemical engineers take science out of the laboratory and into the real world. They turn raw materials into useful products through changing their properties or changing how their properties interact with each other. **After the course**: Chemical engineers are employed worldwide in activities including research and development, design and plant operation. They are involved in a wide range of sectors including utilities, construction, defence, chemicals, oil and pharmaceuticals. Our recent graduates are employed at a range of chemical engineering destinations such as BOC, Jacobs, Cummins and EDF.
