**Course overview**: This course includes an integrated foundation year, ideal if you don’t have the appropriate subjects and/or grades to go straight into year one. Artificial intelligence (AI) is increasingly important in developments in all parts of business and society. This course will provide you with knowledge of computer science topics and specialist skills in artificial intelligence, opening the door to a range of careers from automative design to health care. You will develop strong theoretical and technical knowledge and skills in computer science as well as specialist knowledge and skills in artificial intelligence, which will provide the directly transferable skills for a career in the artificial intelligence industry. You explore state-of-the-art technologies, concepts and theories supported by a thriving active research community. You will gain specialist knowledge and experience in the development of intelligent systems. Topics studied will include machine learning, agent based modelling, intelligent support systems, planning and logistics, virtual agents and hybrid algorithm design. The distinctive nature of this award is in alignment with our AI and Machine Learning research groups coupled with direct involvement with industry partners throughout the student journey. **After the course**: A wide range of opportunities are open to computer scientists with artificial intelligence including software analysts and developers, computer scientists and computer engineers, AI architects, machine learning engineers. Industry demand for individuals with these skill sets is increasing at a significant rate. As a Computer Science with Artificial Intelligence graduate you will be well placed to pursue a technical career in a wide range of industries.
