Paramedics are increasingly called upon as the first point of contact for patients with emergency or unscheduled care needs. The role of the paramedic is continually developing and paramedics are expected to manage patients with complex health care needs. This programme aims to prepare paramedic students to take forward the concept of autonomous practice and incorporate safe, appropriate and effective patient-centred care into the practice role. The degree programme is structured to include studying in university and clinical practice placements. Teaching and learning strategies include lead lectures, seminars, discussion groups, e-learning, self-directed study, role play and simulation exercises.
