This adult nursing degree is taught at our St David's Park campus in Carmarthen. 2017/18 Funding Update The Welsh Government announced in December 2016 that UK students who are studying in Wales and commit to working here for 2 years following the completion of their degree will still be entitled to the current funding structure (September 2017 and March 2018 cohorts). Students who currently live in Wales and students not currently living in Wales who do not wish to commit to working in Wales for 2 years following completion of their degree will still be able to study in Wales but will need to secure funding from an alternative sources, this may include funding from the relevant funding body in their home country or self-finance. Information regarding funding for subsequent intakes has not yet been released by the Welsh Government. EMPLOYABILITY: 100% of Nursing graduates are employed in a professional or managerial job 6 months after graduating (Unistats 2017) AVERAGE EARNINGS: Nursing graduates can expect a starting salary of about £22,128 rising to £34,000 for a highly-experienced staff nurse. ACCREDITATION: Graduates will be eligible to apply for Registered Nurse (Adult) status with the Nursing and Midwifery Council. - Nursing ranked Top 100 in the QS World Rankings - Ranked Top 20 in the UK for Nursing (Guardian University Guide 2018) - Ranked 27th out of 71 (Times and Sunday Times 2018) Nursing is a challenging, diverse and rewarding profession focusing on the physical and psychological care of people of all ages. Nursing students must hold the desire to help and support others since nursing is just as much about health promotion and wellbeing as it is about sustenance and rehabilitation from acute or long term disease. Students studying Adult Nursing will learn about the holistic needs of people from early adulthood until old age and develop the ability to provide high quality care in complex situations and in a range of clinical and community settings. They will learn how to: • Promote health and wellbeing • Care for people suffering from acute or chronic disease • Administer rehabilitation and palliative care • Provide supportive care to those in the final days of their lives We have the full support of many healthcare providers and are able to offer a wide range of clinical experiences across South West Wales. These include placements in the NHS and independent sector in hospitals and community settings. Students rotate through different clinical specialities to ensure they have exposure to all aspects of Adult Nursing.
