Course Summary

This program is designed for students who wish to explore game development and game art production. We will build games, game environments and game characters. This course will be industry focused with the support of NextGen; providing students with industry master classes and contact throughout their studies. Students will use industry standard engines to build their projects and advanced industry standard software to produce digital game art. Students will learn business and professional practices that are seamlessly integrated into production projects to prepare students for the working environment.

Course Details - Modules

Students develop a broad knowledge and awareness of key aspects of the creative games industries sector through five core units, which includes two units assessed through a Pearson set assignment. The core units are: • Individual Project (Pearson - set) (HNC, L4) • Creative Media Industry (HNC, L4) • Professional Practice (HNC, L4) • Collaborative Project (Pearson – set) (HND, L5) • Personal Professional Development (HND, L5) Within this ‘specialist pathway’, there are four related mandatory units: • Game Development Practices (HNC, L4) • Games in Context (HNC, L4) • Game Design (HNC, L4) • Advanced Game Development Studies (HND, L5) You will also cover the following units: • Art Development (HNC, L4) • 3D Modelling (HNC, L4) • Mobile Game Development (HND, L5) • Advanced 3d Modelling (HND, L5) • Market Research (HND, L5) • Business Practices for Creative Media Production (HND, L5)
