Course Summary

Our BA (Hons) Dance (Accelerated Degree) programme is the first two-year work-based dance degree in the UK, representing a unique partnership between the University of Suffolk and DanceEast, with the flexibility for you to start in September or January. The degree is hosted at DanceEast’s Jerwood DanceHouse which boasts some of the best dance facilities in the country, including purpose-built dance studios and a fully equipped 200-seat theatre supported by a team of highly trained staff. DanceEast’s wide-ranging programme includes performances by internationally renowned dance companies such as Hofesh Shechter, Matthew Bourne’s Re:Bourne, Russell Maliphant Company, alongside highly specialised classes such as Dance For Parkinson’s. You will work with professional dance artists and specialists in related subjects to create, manage, see and participate in dance performances, classes and projects. Your experience and employability will be enhanced through a unique interdisciplinary approach to dance that brings together a number of departments at the University, from health science to education to photography and film. Responding to growth in demand for dance artists working in health, education and community settings this innovative course will prepare you for a successful career within this context.
