**WHY CHOOSE THIS DEGREE?** - Benefit from a diverse and exciting collection of animals in our BIAZA-member centre - Develop strong scientific knowledge in key biological sciences, animal behaviour and welfare, animal industry and species monitoring - Gain robust data analysis and research skills needed for employment through project work and assessments - Work placements offer opportunities to gather data for the dissertation project which is submitted at Level 6. - Research opportunities throughout the programme, University Centre Sparsholt actively submits student work to outside symposia, giving you the opportunity to present your work to the wider world. **What will I learn?** The programme is designed to combine knowledge and research techniques in aspects of animal welfare and behaviour, animal collections management and wildlife management. Employability is a focus of the final year, with the opportunity to research, investigate, explore and then gain experience in a specific career area of your choice. Data collecting for dissertations is a key feature and students benefit from the College’s strong links with a variety of management organisations. Previous students have undertaken dissertation data collection in conjunction with Colchester Zoo, London Zoo, Beale Park, Dodson and Horrell. Some students even data collected abroad in North Carolina. **Where can I go from here?** You can progress to the MSc in Applied Zoo Biology at University Centre Sparsholt; alternatively there are many MSc and PhD programmes available at other universities. Sparsholt graduates now work in zoological collections, animal charities and conservation both in the UK and overseas.

Diploma of Higher Education, FdSc or HND in Animal Management or related subjects. Plus GCSE Maths and English at grade C/4 or above or Level 2 Functional Skills in Maths and English.
