Course Summary

Whilst on the programme, learners will gain an understanding of human behaviour and how it can be influenced by a variety of internal and external factors. They will apply this theoretical understanding to different areas; such as in trying to understand the offender, the police and decisions made within the criminal justice sector. Learners will explore the relativity of the concept of crime and examine changes in the types and levels of crime since globalisation and internationalisation. Learners will also explore how societies manage and reduce crime levels and the protections and support offered to victims. Essentially leaners wil develop a critical undertsanding of the offender, the victims, the approaches to managing and reducing crime and issues that develop in these processes.
