This fascinating course will give you the opportunity to analyse human behaviour emotions, motivations and beliefs through essential methods of research and data analysis. This course can lead to further study, successful careers within psychology, as well as other areas such as education, forensic sciences, marketing, health and occupational psychologies. Our facilities will support you in every area of research. We have a varied range of modules for all years. Examples of core modules for year one will include: Academic support and employability 1, Behavioural neuroscience, Individual differences, Introduction to psychology, Psychology of attractiveness, Research methods and data analysis, Thinking psychologically, Criminal justice studies, Independent study and synoptic reflection, The psychology of mental health.

Course Details – Assessment Method

Your understanding of psychology is evaluated through a wide range of assessment methods across the degree that may include traditional essays, lab reports, oral presentation, poster presentation, reflective journals, traditional exams, multiple choice questions, short answer questions and literature reviews. This ensures you develop a broad variety of skills and that your achievements are assessed against the intended learning outcomes of the individual modules and the programme as a whole. Standard Qualification Requirements

Typical offer: AAB offer to include one subject in Psychology, Mathematics or a Science. If specific subjects are not taken, an alternative offer of AAA will be made. Contextual offer: AAB/ABB General Studies, Critical Thinking and Citizenship Studies are excluded for entry. The University of Southampton values the Extended Project Qualification. Applicants taking the EPQ in addition to three A-levels will also be made an alternative offer one grade below the standard offer, conditional on an A grade in the EPQ. We normally consider applicants who offer at least 1 Advanced Higher. Applicants presenting with only Highers will be considered on a case by case basis. Where Highers are taken over two years it might be expected that higher grades are achieved, particularly in any specific subjects required. For example, S5 – S6 (2 years): AABBB (A in specific subject) or S6 (1 year): ABBBB (A in specific subject).
