Your four year MSci Environmental Geoscience degree will give you the opportunity to explore the evolving Earth system through the lens of sustainable environmental management. Your degree will combine geology, geography, oceanography and environmental science, giving you the freedom to specialise in subjects ranging from environmental law to marine pollution.
You'll study at the National Oceanography Centre Southampton (NOCS), our unqie waterfront campus, that is one of the world's largest centres for research and technology development in ocean and Earth science. Here, you'll have the unique opportunity to work on research projects with NOCS scientists, whilst also having access to specialist facilities. Topics of study will include:
terrestrial and marine pollution and environmental impact
environmental law and science policy
Earth resource management
natural hazards
This course will also allow you to specialise in terrestrial, or marine sciences, giving you the freedom to explore the elements of the programme that interest you most.

Pass with overall score of 34 points, with 17 points required at higher level: including 6 points from one science subject. International Baccalaureate Career-related Programmes (IBCP): The University of Southampton accepts the IBCP for entry to their degree programmes, recognising the value of combining academic skills with practical skills, providing a solid preparation for university level work. GCSEs: The University of Southampton requires all applicants to achieve at least a Grade 4 in English and Mathematics GCSEs (taken in England) or a Grade C in both subjects (where taken in Northern Ireland or Wales). Some degree subjects stipulate specific additional GCSE minimum grades, which will be specified as part of the individual degree programme entry requirements.

AQA Tech Levels: The University accepts the new AQA Tech Level qualification, which must be offered in combination with at least one A Level. For degrees in Engineering, Computing and related subjects, the A Level must be in Mathematics and the units M1 and M2 must be taken. Typical entry criteria for degrees in Engineering will be to achieve an A in the A Level plus D*D in the Tech Level, or A* in the A Level plus DD in the Tech Level. For Computer Science and Information and Technology in Organisations, typical offers will be to achieve an A in the A Level and DD in the Tech Level.
