Solent is the first university in the UK to offer a beauty promotion degree, an innovative course which focuses on developing you for a career within the global beauty industry. You’ll learn a diverse range of skills, including multi-platform journalism, styling, marketing, PR, advertising and trend forecasting, with an opportunity to specialise as you progress. You will be taught by academics with extensive industry experience in writing and styling beauty, celebrity and fashion editorial features for magazines including Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, Elle and Good Housekeeping. And will have access to professional photography facilities, as well as a make-up area. Mac suites with the latest design and publishing software and a reprographics room are also available to help you develop your digital skills. During your studies you will also have the opportunity to get involved in retail activities at Re:So, Solent’s stunning student-run store which sells a unique mix of fashion, accessories, publications, furniture and art produced by the University’s creative students and graduates. Combine a love of beauty, writing and image creation. **What does this course lead to?** This course will support you to develop the key skills required for a dynamic career in the fashion and beauty industries, working in the head office of a cosmetics, skincare, perfume, jewellery or hair care company or promoting several clients as a PR executive in a beauty and fashion public relations agency. These skills are also highly valuable in the lifestyle, public relations and promotion industries. **Who is this course for?** This course is ideally suited to students who wish to focus their creative, communication and commercial skills towards professional careers in the growing beauty industry. Applicants may come from either an artistic or business focused background or have studied either creative or humanities A-levels including but not limited to; social sciences, media, English, photography and history.
