Whether you are already working in the industry and want to take the next step in your career, or you are just beginning your professional life, this course gives you a unique blend of academic study, work based learning and skills development. You will gain a practical nursing clinical competency based on an underpinning knowledge of veterinary nursing practice. This will enable you to pursue a career providing nursing care for sick and injured animals plus you will become eligible for entry onto the veterinary nurses ' register (subject to RCVS conditions).
The course is a theoretical and practical course, so you get lots of first hand experience of what you have learnt in the classroom. Experts from the field of animal care and veterinary nursing deliver guest lectures, and you will take part in discussion forums and group work. Assessment will be through group critiques, projects, portfolio of work, presentations, reports and external examinations. You will spend a minimum of 60 weeks (2,100 hours) in a registered veterinary training practice. Your time here will be subject to assessment and will contribute to completion of your professional nursing log.
