Course Summary

Our three-year nursing degree has relaunched for the 2019/20 academic year to take account of the new Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) regulations. Child Nursing is a full-time course that blends theory with practice to help you become a confident and competent nurse of the future. This new version of our course is integrated for the first two years, allowing you to learn about the four fields of nursing, while your final year of study will be focused on your chosen field. This new approach will give you additional knowledge, skills and understanding of the challenges faced by people at different stages of their life, and how conditions such as learning difficulties and mental health issues can impact on an individual’s care needs. While your study will be integrated for some of your time, all of your placements will be based around Child Nursing. Delivered as 50 per cent theory and 50 per cent practice, the course will provide you with a wide range of experiences, as well as continuous individual support and encouragement from both University personal tutors and clinical mentors. Extracurricular experiences include the opportunity to visit clinical areas in Pittsburgh, USA, and a host of other potential international visits through our Go Abroad scheme, giving you the edge in later job interviews.
