Course Summary

This Art and Design BA Hons final year degree programme is offered as a top-up qualification for learners who have gained a relevant FdA, HND or equivalent qualification and who want to continue studying to Honours level. The course is delivered through four modules, which, in addition to further developing and refining your own art and design practice, will offer invaluable professional and business knowledge relevant to working as a creative practitioner. Studio practice remains key throughout this year with lecturers providing guidance and advice through individual and group tutorials. Learners are encouraged to actively engage with external ventures, identifying specific audiences and/or clients and gaining the necessary skills and knowledge that will fully support their future professional careers.

Course Details - Modules

4 core modules •Studio Practice one – Research project. ( 30 Credits). This module is concerned with the development of a chosen studio practice and pathway through an examination of work produced at Level 5. It is designed to test out the scope, purpose and ambition of this work through research and critical reflection, leading to an informed and sustained body of work. This culminates in an internal interim show. •Studio Practice two – research project realisation ( 30 Credits) The final practice-based module focuses on externality and the consolidation of a student’s chosen practice. part of This should reflect an individual’s achievements and ambition at Level 6. This culminates with an end of year degree show. •Extended professional practice and business studies. ( 30 Credits ) This module provides students with the necessary skills to support them in a post academic environment through the identification of practice sector needs and demands. This will include the identification of key transferable skills; website; business and financial and teaching workshop delivery. This assessed through a professionally produced catalogue that accompanies the end of year show/ Teaching opportunities and a technical file •Research Paper ( 30 credits) This module is designed to provide students with the necessary skills to conclude a research paper that supports their studio practice. This will be fully supported with comprehensive lectures and 1.1 support.

The course provides you with opportunities to test your understanding of the subject informally before you complete the formal assessments that count towards your final mark. Assessment methods include and a range of coursework assessments such as a technical file, portfolios, presentations and your final year major project. All assessment are spread across the year to make the workload manageable
